Indic(Indian) language keyboards for Android- released by ICFOSS- Indic language keyboards for Android is released by The International Centre for Free and Open Source Software (ICFOSS) at the inaugural session. It was revealed at a two-day workshop on Free Mobile Platforms held at Thiruvananthapuram(India) on Tuesday the 11th March 2014. The layout of this Android key board was developed jointly by ICFOSS and Jishnu Mohan of Swathanthra Malayalam Computing. Swathanthra Malayalam Computing is a 13-year-old community working to produce local language technology for Indic languages under the supervison of research and development wing of the IT department government of India.

 Thie keyboard layout can be downloaded free of cost from the app repositories, where it is available in the name of name "Indic Keyboard". It provides support to input text any android device in 15 languages and 35 keyboard layouts, covering most of Indian languages as well as Sinhalese and Nepali.
About 904 million phones are in use, as against a population of 1,220 million in India and the availability of new mobile devices like tablets, cameras, and wearable devices (Like watches), further growth is expected significantly.
The key board is likely to available free to download shortly and you can create an email alert to be informed immediately as and when it download.
